Arminia Bielefeld 1 VS 3 Borrusia Dortmund: Haaland-less Dortmund thumps Bielefeld

Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 3-1 victory over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, with two goals from Emre Can and Mats Hummels in the first half and a spectacular effort from Jude Bellingham.

Dortmund were never bothered despite the absence of their injured top scorer Erling Haaland, who will be out for many weeks with a hip injury. They have won their eighth league match in a row.

But they are still in the second position with 21 points, one behind Bayern Munich, who defeated Hoffenheim 4-0.

Dortmund was anxious to apologize after being thrashed 4-0 by Ajax Amsterdam on midweek, and Donyell Malen had a pair of early chances.

On the other hand, Bielefeld came even closer when Janni Serra pounced on a mistake by defender Marin Pongracic, but he failed to beat Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel.

Dortmund opened the scoring with Can’s 31st-minute penalty before they doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime with defender Hummels’ stunning 20-meter volley.

Bellingham made sure of the three points in the 73rd minute, dribbling past three players inside the box and then beautifully chipping the ball over the keeper for a remarkable goal by the 18-year-old youngster.

A late penalty by Fabian Klos cut the deficit for the hosts, but they remain in 17th place on five points.
