Chelsea in a position to beat Mourinho`s defensive record this season under Tuchel

Frank Lampard had already built a world-class squad with the most driven players in every position across the pitch before he was fired in January. However, he was unable to make much of an impact, which is why the London club brought in Thomas Tuchel, who had recently had his contract with Paris Saint-Germain terminated.

Tuchel was not expected to make such an immediate impact. Few anticipated him to win the Champions League while also finishing in the top four. He only added one player to his team this season, Romelu Lukaku, who he acquired from Inter Milan.

So far, the Blues have played ten league games, winning eight, drawing one, and losing one. They presently lead the league with 26 points, having scored 27 goals and conceded only four. This takes me to this article’s major point.

Jose Mourinho won the league title and the League Cup with the Blues in the 2004/2005 season. He also advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup before being eliminated in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Ironically, Frank Lampard was the club’s top scorer that season, both in the league and throughout all competitions.

They went on to set a variety of milestones, including the most away victories, clean sheets held in a season, fewest away goals conceded, and the fewest goals conceded (15).

For the Blues, Tuchel has a decent chance of equaling or possibly beating this record. Chelsea’s defensive play looks impenetrable and clinical, despite the fact that two of its primary forwards are now out injured.

So far, the Blues have only lost one game, and it was against Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola. Mourinho’s title-winning team in 2005 only lost one game and drew eight, finishing with 95 points. The team is still considered Chelsea’s greatest ever.
