EPL: Ferran Torres to leave Manchester City for Barcelona

EPL: Ferran Torres will leave Manchester City for Barcelona.

Ferran Torres has been sold to Barcelona by Manchester City. Barca have agreed to pay 55 million euros for the 21-year-old attacker, with a further 10 million euros (£8.5 million) in add-ons.

Due to a recent bank loan, the Spanish club is able to pay for the agreement despite its current financial difficulties.

However, they will not be able to add Ferran Torres to the squad until they sell some of their current players to meet La Liga’s financial fair play requirements.

He started City’s first six games of the season but was benched for the goalless draw against Southampton in September and hasn’t played since injuring his foot while on international duty with Spain in October.

Manager Pep Guardiola was made aware of the player’s desire to go and City’s belief that they have a formidable forward line with Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden all competing for a starting spot at Etihad Stadium.

The Catalans expect him, along with Barcelona’s Ansu Fati, to be one of Spain’s top players in the next decade.

After losing Lionel Messi to Barcelona and allowing Antoine Griezmann to join Atletico Madrid over the summer, they have a lack of forward players.

Barcelona signed former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, but the 33-year-old had to retire from football due to a heart ailment.
