Juventus 1-0 Roma: Szczesny saves the Bianconeri amid a dispute over a penalty kick

Roma were understandably furious after being awarded a penalty rather than a goal in their 1-0 loss to Juventus. They were infuriated even more when they failed to score from the penalty kick that followed.

When Moise Kean scored for Juventus, Roma believed they had equalized when Tammy Abraham hit the back of the net.

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was penalized for a foul on Henrikh Mkhitaryan that happened during the buildup to the goal, which was awarded to Roma by referee Daniele Orsato as a result of the infraction.

Jordan Veretout stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Wojciech Szczesny saved it after the Turin club’s fourth straight league victory was clinched by Kean’s early unconventional goal.

After 16 minutes, Rodrigo Bentancur’s header ricocheted off Kean’s head and found its way into the back of the net.

Juventus are seventh in the table with 14 points, one point behind fourth-placed Roma and Lazio and Atalanta above them.
