Leicester City have been relegated to the Europa Conference League, while Napoli have advanced to the Europa League knockout stages.
Napoli defeated Leicester City 3-2 at home on Thursday to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages as Group C runners-up behind Spartak Moscow.
Spartak Moscow defeated Legia Warsaw 1-0 to claim an automatic last-16 ticket, while Napoli will face a playoff against one of the Champions League’s third-placed teams after the winter break.
Leicester will enter the third-tier Europa Conference League, where they will face one of the competition’s runners-up in a playoff for a last-16 berth.
Napoli took the lead in the fourth minute through Adam Ounas’s stunning low strike, and the Serie A side appeared to be in cruise control as Eljif Elmas made it 2-0 with a tap-in following unselfish work by Andrea Petagna.
However, sloppy defence cost the home side twice in quick succession before halftime, as Jonny Evans punched in a loose ball in the 27th minute and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall volleyed in his first Leicester goal.
Elmas of North Macedonia restored Napoli’s lead shortly after the break, deflecting a tame cross through a stagnant defense and directed the ball past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
