Manchester United Makes First Contact with Conte
The last defeat represents one of the darkest days in the club’s history across the last decade and many fans have been calling for Solskjaer to leave the club – losing to your rivals in such a way is unforgivable and fan opinion seems to have turned against him.
With Ole’s dismissal looking more likely, there are reports that Manchester United have made first contact with Antonio Conte, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia.
Conte is a proven winner having claimed league titles at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter, and is among the favorites to take over United should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be sacked.
The report adds that United have not yet made their final decision on the Norwegian’s future but that an approach for Conte has been made tonight.
Other reports are suggesting that the Red Devils are trying to make contacts with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers but he has reportedly ruled himself out of the running. CaughtOffside reported that Rodgers would not be keen on a move to Old Trafford after Spanish media claimed that Zinedine Zidane was not interested either.
It is claimed that Rodgers is reluctant to hold talks with United as he has eyes set on being Pep Guardiola’s successor at Manchester City, even if the Blues boss doesn’t leave for another 18-months.
