UCL: Mbappe and Messi’s brace secures PSG a comfortable win over Club Brugge.
PSG trounced Club Brugge 4-1 on Tuesday night at the Parc des Princes, with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi both scoring braces.
Mbappe scored both goals in the first seven minutes, while Messi scored in the 38th and 76th.
Messi is now the third PSG player to score in his first three Champions League home games. The Argentine, who joined PSG on a free transfer from Barcelona in the summer, has taken a while to settle in and regain his former form.
Messi’s first was a goal we’ve seen him score a thousand times in the past. He finished with precision after some fantastic work by Mbappe in the buildup. His second was a well-taken penalty kick.
PSG were already guaranteed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League before the game. They finished second in their group, a point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
🇫🇷 Kylian Mbappé also became the youngest player in Champions League history to score 30+ goals (22 years, 352 days) 👏 to surpass Messi, who was 23 years and 131 days when he reached that target.
