Napoli 1- 0 Torino: Ex-Player touts Victor Osimhen to be the next Cavani

Victor Osimhen scored in the 81st minute to give his club a 1-0 victory over Torino, keeping their perfect league record and putting them atop the table. After his outstanding performance in yesterday’s encounter, the Napoli striker was compared to Manchester United’s Edison Cavani by a Serie A icon. Gianluca Aztori, currently the manager of Floriana FC, made this comparison as he was full of high praises for the Nigerian striker. Aztori was confident that the Nigerian will reach the same heights as Cavani in his illustrious career.

“It was the most important goal of my career,” Osimhen told the club’s official website. “ I am very happy, the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible, the crowd pushed us and we managed to score 3 points.”

The 22-year-old has already established himself as one of the most dangerous strikers in Italy having netted four goals in six matches in Serie A this season – scoring 14 goals for Napoli since his arrival in 2020. The Nigerian international who surprisingly only started playing top flight football five years ago has shown some remarkable progress since his £62 million move from Lille and has been linked to some top clubs in Europe in the past six months.

Speaking to, Aztori said “He started very strongly, and when a striker starts in confidence, usually, he enjoys this throughout the year.”

“He is physical, and he helps the team a lot and reminds me of the younger Cavani. I wish him to continue like this and make the same career as the Matador.” The Floriana FC Manager continued.

Edison Cavani netted a total of 66 goals in his first two seasons with Napoli and then went on to score 38 goals in his third season across all competitions, where he also finished the league as top scorer with a whooping 29 goals. At the age 34, Cavani still possesses a splendid goal scoring record, scoring 10 goals in 29 league games so far for Manchester United.
