Nketiah’s hat-trick in a 5-1 win against Sunderland sees Arsenal into the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
In the only way he knows how, Nketiah opened the scoring by latching on to Holding’s header and firing home from two yards out.
Before the half-hour mark, Arsenal added a second goal courtesy of a deflected shot from Ivorian Pepe following some nice combination play with Cedric.
Nathan Broadhead chipped the oncoming Leno to give Sunderland the goal they deserved after some sloppy Arsenal defence in the first half.
Immediately after the break, Nketiah scored his second goal with an Olivier Giroud-esque near post burst and a lovely touch from Nunos’ cross.
A stunning goal from him completed his hat-trick. With a beautiful heeled finish from Nketiah, Odegaard helped Pepe nutmeg his way into the box. Afterwards, Charlie Patino scored his first goal as a senior to send the fans wild.
Arsenal’s predicted triumph wasn’t as straightforward as expected in the first half, but the Gunners nevertheless cruised to a comfortable victory that ensures their place in the Carabao Cup semifinals.
