Ozdoev gets an equalizer in the 94th minute as the Blues lose first place in their Champions League group

UCL: Magomed Ozdoev gets an equalizer in the 94th minute as the Blues lose first place in their Champions League group.

Chelsea were denied top spot in Group H on Wednesday night after conceding a late equaliser against Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Magomed Ozdoev’s 94th-minute strike left Kepa Arrizabalaga helpless and secured the Russians a thrilling 3-3 draw.

It meant the Blues could face Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in defending their crown with an unseeded ranking in the last-16 draw.

Thomas Tuchel’s team felt they had survived a scare in a thrilling match in Russia, but Ozdoev pulled a rabbit out of a hat late into stoppage time to ensure Juventus finished as group winners by virtue of their 1-0 win against Malmo in Turin.

Werner gave the visitors the lead inside 90 seconds with a close-range goal.

However, quick goals from Claudinho (39) and Sardar Azmoun (41) in sub-zero temperatures gave Zenit the advantage at halftime.

The champions of the Champions League flipped the game on its head as Romelu Lukaku equalized (62) before Werner completed the comeback with a sweeping move with five minutes remaining.

However, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, replacement Ozdoev pounced on Malang Sarr’s headed clearance to blast an unerring effort into the top corner, forcing Chelsea to settle for second place.
