Vinícius, Rodrygo and Benzema got on the scoresheet in a decisive victory for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid scored 5 goals against Shakhtar Donetsk in the third gameweek of the UEFA Champions League at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Karim Benzema and Vincius Júnior were the standout performers for Los Blancos in a game that was a must-win for Manager Carlo Ancelotti after their disappointing performance against Sheriff in their last UCL outing.
Serhiy Kryvtsov scored an own goal 37 minutes into the game to start the contest. In the second half, things got even more dramatic as Vincius netted a brace in the space of 5 minutes before Rodrygo got among the scoresheet in the 64th minute.
Despite his excellent performance, Benzema did not score until the final stages of the game, when he clinched the victory after receiving a pass from Marco Asensio that got him his goal.
Last season, the La Liga side met Shaktar in the Champions League group stages and failed to win a single match against the Ukrainian side. In fact, before yesterday night’s encounter, Madrid had only previously defeated Shaktar in a 7-goal thriller in 2015.
Los Blancos are in second position in the group B, tied with Sheriff on points. So far, they’ve scored 7 goals and conceded 2, with only 1 game lost and 2 wins.
