Romelu Lukaku is set to play for Chelsea against Tottenham after apologizing for the controversial interview.

Romelu Lukaku is set to play for Chelsea against Tottenham in the first-leg of the Carabao Cup after apologizing for the controversial interview.

With Tuchel, Lukaku is said to have conveyed his contrition for publicly expressing his dissatisfaction with Chelsea and the consequent aftermath.

Tuchel: “Romelu Lukaku apologized and he’s back in the squad. For me was important to understand that it [the interview] was not intentional from Romelu. This is not as big as people want it to be – it’s not small but we can stay calm and accept his apologies”.

According to a report by BBC depicted in a image below shows part of  Lukaku’s apology when speaking to Chelsea’s TV.

While he didn’t play against Liverpool, the striker trained with other players who didn’t start and expects to be reabsorbed into the team.

Recalled to the team, Lukaku will have an opportunity to make things right with Chelsea supporters when the Blues face Spurs in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

An update from Tuchel on the situation is scheduled for this afternoon at a press conference.
