Ronaldo and Cavani equal Manchester United’s 10-year record set by Scholes and Giggs.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Edison Cavani saw their names etched in Manchester United history as they broke a 10-year-old record for the club who returned to winning ways.
Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are two of the club’s most famous players who spent their entire careers at the club. Ronaldo and Cavani are the club’s only forwards above the age of 34 and they started as a strike partnership against Tottenham Hotspur. The team earned a well-deserved victory for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had been under a lot of pressure to deliver a result.
It was the first time two players over the age of 34 had collaborated on a Premier League goal for Manchester United since 2010 as Ronaldo set up Cavani for the game’s second goal. In August 2010, Paul Scholes assisted Ryan Giggs for a goal, and now Ronaldo and Cavani have surpassed the ten-year record.
