Sadio Mane joins Mohamed Salah in the ‘100 Club’ after scoring 100 Premier League goals for Liverpool.
After reaching 100 goals for Liverpool in all competitions last month, the 29-year-old Senegalese has already joined Salah in the Premier League’s exclusive “100 Club.”
Sadio Mane is the 31st member of the current roster to accomplish this feat since the league’s inception in 1992.
In 2014, shortly after joining RB Salzburg for £3.6 million, the Senegal international scored Southampton’s first goal in a 1-0 win over Stoke City.
He shared the Golden Boot with Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2018/19 after scoring 22 goals.
Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to his dynamic striker in the wake of Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Watford, highlighting that Sadio Mane isn’t a penalty taker.
He said: “And the remarkable thing is, we should not forget that Sadio Mane – I’m not sure if he scored penalties for Southampton, not that I know – scored 100 goals without a penalty, so that makes a difference for sure. It’s a unique number. He should be and will be, hopefully, proud of that.
“That doesn’t happen for a lot of players. You don’t have to talk about Sadio’s quality – he’s a world-class player as well. It’s incredible how good he is. Big day for him, 100 percent, and I’m happy for him.”
