Chelsea dominate Malmo in a 4-goal thriller in the Champions League

Chelsea cruised to a 4-0 victory over Malmo in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge.

They were impressive in attack from the start, with Andres Christensen scoring the first goal for Chelsea after just ten minutes, when the center back volleyed in an inch-perfect cross from Thiago Silva. The London club then doubled their lead through Jorginho, who is rumored to be a major contender for the Ballon D’or.

Following a foul on Romelu Lukaku that ended in a penalty, the Belgian striker limped off the pitch and down the tunnel. Timo Werner also left the game early, appearing to have suffered a hamstring injury on the cusp of halftime.

After the break, the Blues continued their impressive performance, with Kai Havertz clipping the ball beautifully past the goalkeeper from a pass by Callum Hudson-Odoi pass. Not long afterwards, the team’s assistant captain Jorginho, converted the game’s fourth and final goal from the penalty spot following a foul on Antonio Rudiger.

The team would be overjoyed with their victory, as they were dominant from start to finish, and the victory keeps them in second place on the group table. While the squad won admirably, there would be some concern about the injury sustained by their two strikers, which they must hope would heal quickly.

While his attacking ideas are still taking shape, the Blues manager was pleased with the win, knowing that he could rely on his players’ desire to win and defend games. In an interview with BT Sport, he said:

“We wanted three points and wanted them deserved and we got both of those. We played to huge intensity, we demanded this from us and we played an excellent game until it was 4-0. We are very happy.”

The London club will be hoping to continue their impressive run of form this season with another game in the Premier league against Norwich this Saturday, also hoping that their two strikers won’t be out for too long
