UCL: In a frantic final minute, Atlético Madrid snatches the last-16 spot away from Porto.

Simeone’s side win 3-1 to complete remarkable turnaround to snatch the round 16 spot from Porto on Tuesday night.

Porto were knocked out of the Champions League after losing 3-1 against Atletico Madrid in a tense and unruly match in which both teams had a player sent off.

The hosts took the lead against the run of play in the 56th minute when Antoine Griezmann bunged in a corner following a flurry of excellent chances either side of the break for the hosts.

It appeared as though Porto would take the lead in the 67th minute when Yannick Carrasco was sent off for raising his hands to Otávio in the aftermath of a foul, but Wendell was ejected after seeming to lightly attack Matheus Cunha with his elbow.

Substitute Angel Correa’s goal in the 90th minute, followed by Rodrigo De Paul’s strike 60 seconds later, secured Atlético’s 3-1 victory.

Finally, Sérgio Oliveira scored a penalty kick in the dying seconds of the game to give Porto a consolation goal.

Diego Simeone’s Atlético finished second in Group B with seven points, while Porto qualified for the Europa League in third place with five points.
