UCL: Sancho nets his first goal for Manchester United as Villarreal lost at home
Jadon Sancho netted in his first goal for United as Villarreal lost 2 – 0 at home. The new caretaker manager Micheal Carrick also recorded his first win as the interim coach of Manchester United after the sack of Ole Solskjaer.
Both sides tugged out a goalless first half until Ronaldo opened the scoring sheet in the 78th minute from a mistake committed by a Villarreal defender.
In the game’s dying minutes, Sancho increased the scoreline by netting in goal from a Bruno Fernandes assist. Sancho’s performance was quite outstanding as he seems to be finally exhibiting chemistry with his teammates.
The result of the match sends Manchester United top of the UCL group table as they were even with Villarreal on points sequel to the game.
While it might be too early for Manchester United to count their eggs before hatching, the performance displayed by the team for the match was quite encouraging. Carrick may or may not be the breakthrough United needs, but only time will tell.
