Barcelona Sacks Ronald Koeman
FC Barcelona has relieved the Netherlands international of all duties after his loss to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
According to the statement from the Club’s official website, FC Barcelona has relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as first-team coach. The president of the club, Joan Laporta, informed him of the decision after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano. Ronald Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva. FC Barcelona wishes to thank him for his service to the Club and wishes him all the best in his professional career.
Hours before the sack, Koeman was said to have taken some dig at the club’s board and he lamented to the media how he doesn’t have the proper backings due to the League’s rules and regulations. Speaking to the media he said, “We are not well, the team has dropped in balance in the squad. We have lost players of a lot of effectiveness. In recent years our rivals have strengthened and we have not been able to,” he said. “It may be that the other teams have more balanced, more physical templates. But we have shown that we can compete with them”.
Now the club and the board will be looking to sign a replacement as soon as possible and there are claims that one of the Club’s legends might be in the front race for the position.
