Dortmund’s Chief drops major Haaland transfer hint

Next summer, Borussia Dortmund will face a fight to keep the 21-year old goal machine at their club. The head of First team football, Sebastian Kehl is confident that IErling Haaland will stay at the club beyond next summer.

Haaland is widely expected to depart the German club next summer as his release clause tends to be at a cheap price (£64m) with Europe top flights already showing interest. The price is quite a bargain for many clubs, as he is very known for his prolific goal scoring records. Interest will eventually envisage with Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid among those linked.

But then Dortmund heads are confident the Norwegian star will stay at the club beyond 2022 despite the heavy interest. On sunday Kehl explained that the club are yet to discuss his future, but they are to fight to retain his services. He went as far as to say he would bet money on Haaland remaining at Westfalenstadion.

He told BILD: “Of course, we are trying to give him [Haaland] the feeling that Borussia Dortmund continues to be a top address for him and that he can still develop here. Maybe we can still convince him. We will fight for him. We will try everything. The decision has not yet been made, but I would bet €100 (£85) [on him staying].”

The saga for his signature will undoubtedly be gripping, but Dortmund will likely do all they can to prevent their star man from departing.

Whether Kehl’s evident confidence spreads throughout the Bundesliga giants remains to be seen.
